The Pup Program Manager position is available with Paws for Purple Hearts and Bergin College of Canine Studies, located in Canyonville, Oregon. The Puppy Program provides the foundation for both organizations’ working dogs, including Service Dogs, Facility Dogs, Hearing Dogs, Senior Service Dogs, Scent Detection Dogs, dogs that read with children, and many other specialized roles.

Education Requirements (Preferred):

  • Bachelor of Science degree (Cynology preferred)
  • Veterinary Technician license
  • Montessori or elementary school teaching credential
  • Master of Science in Human-Canine Life Sciences or Genetics

Basic Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of and ability to develop and operate a pup breeding, enrichment, and training program
  • Medical knowledge and experience to support the health, nutrition, and well-being of program pups
  • Facility management, including cleaning and maintaining a safe, sterilized environment
  • Ability to develop and collaborate with experts to build and manage a simulated enrichment environment
  • Experience training puppies using positive reinforcement methods
  • Knowledge of current research in pup genetics, enrichment, and early puppyhood education
  • Management and scheduling of puppy tech staff and volunteer puppy petters
  • Ability to teach classes in pup enrichment, early training, and cognitive development
  • Strong program management, reporting, record-keeping, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Established local, state, national, and international connections
